Head of AI salary

In a small or mid-size business, the head of AI is the operator who leads. They own the AI plan, a budget and usually one to five people, and they answer to the CEO for whether it pays off. In a tech company the same title can mean a research or product leader, which is a different job with different pay.

What the formula says

Our salary calculator estimates what a particular operator is worth to a business, from their skills, seat and results. It’s a published formula, not an AI, and it isn’t a survey of what ads offer: strong operators come out above most ads, and that’s the point of the calculator. What moves the number

• The seat: head of or director multiplies the rest by 1.4 in the formula.
• Results they can point to, a saving or new revenue a year.
• The size of the business, and how deeply they know its industry.
• Their own depth in agents, models and data, which a head of AI still needs.
